While working on just a regular murder case with the rest of the NCIS team, Abby is almost killed by an evidence from the case and soon it becomes clear that the murder was staged, and that someone wants Abby dead. The team discovers some enemies from Abby's past, and they must find out who is the person, before the person kills Abby.

La squadra si trova a indagare in un appartamento in cui è stato compiuto un brutale omicidio. La valigetta contenente cocaina fa pensare a una consegna andata male. Abby intanto è coinvolta in un'indagine in cui deve testimoniare. Mentre McGee le fa visita nel laboratorio rischiano entrambi di morire a causa dell'acido cianidrico proveniente dalla cocaina che la ragazza stava analizzando. Gibbs si occupa immediatamente del caso e mette Abby sotto protezione, costringendola a dormire a casa di McGee. Si scopre così che Abby in passato aveva frequentato un giovane che ripuliva scene del crimine. Quest'ultimo era stato allontanato sotto diffida di Abby stessa. Seguiranno una serie di persecuzioni da parte di Michael che spingeranno la ragazza a rimanere chiusa nell'ascensore dell'N.C.I.S. Ben presto si scoprirà che Michael però era solo un diversivo.
