A la brigade, Russell et Kirkendall reçoivent Oscar et Janet Webb, accompagnés de leur fille de 23 ans, Anya. Une fois séparée de ses parents, cette dernière raconte avoir été attaquée après son travail par une bande, puis traînée de force dans un appartement et violée... Sorenson, Sipowicz et Medavoy, aidés par John Irvin, enquêtent sur la disparition d'un homosexuel, Walter Goode. Le neveu de ce dernier leur indique que Blake, l'ancien amant et colocataire de son oncle, pourrait l'avoir assassiné. Mais lorsque celui-ci apprend que Goode est mort, il paraît réellement affecté...
