When transferring Robert Dunbrook's son from prison to court, the NYPD is ambushed by a group of professional kidnappers who kill a member of the team and one of the CSI's lives hangs in the balance.

Pendant que Flack discute avec Terrence, son indic, Jessica escorte Connor Dunbrook au tribunal où il doit témoigner contre son père. Soudain, un camion bélier défonce la vitrine du restaurant où ils prennent le petit déjeuner. Jessica, gravement blessée par un des quatre hommes qui ont enlevé Connor, meurt peu après à l'hôpital. Toute l'équipe se lance à la recherche des tueurs, Flack en tête. Robert Dunbrook est évidemment le premier suspect de Mac.
