Alfonso Reyes est condamné pour le meurtre de Lindsay Garland, bien qu'il se déclare non coupable. Après le verdict, Horatio découvre une espèce de mouche bien particulière sur le corps de la victime qui confirme que celle-ci n'a pas pu être tuée à l'intérieur. Or, c'était la théorie de la police scientifique et c'est grâce à elle qu'ils ont fait condamné Alfonso. Horatio décide de reprendre l'enquête du début pour innocenter Alfonso.
