Provenza s'est engagé à aider sa première ex-femme, Liz, à retrouver son alliance. Cette dernière a été arnaquée par un acheteur suspect. Lorsqu'ils se présentent dans la société d'achat et de vente d'or concernée pour récupérer l'alliance, Provenza et Flynn sont accueillis par une jeune femme qui leur remet la bague sans faire de difficultés. Mais un bruit de perceuse en provenance de l'arrière-boutique attire l'attention de Flynn. Dès leur sortie, l'hôtesse s'enfuit en compagnie d'un homme masqué.
