One of Brenda's detectives is ambushed on the street, and the main clue to figuring out the motive behind the attack is a garbage bag containing more than $37,500. The investigation then turns into a race to clear the detective's name over allegations of witness tampering.

Cela fait quatorze ans qu'Andy Flynn est aux alcooliques anonymes. A la fin d'une réunion, un jeune homme l'aborde pour lui parler de ses difficultés à se désintoxiquer de l'alcool. Quelques minutes plus tard, quand il se retrouve sur le parking, Flynn est sauvagement agressé par un inconnu. Le lieutenant parvient à tirer par deux fois sur son assaillant qui prend tout de même la fuite. Brenda enquête personnellement sur l'affaire et découvre qu'une importante somme d'argent et une subornation de témoin pourraient être à l'origine de l'agression. Tout en cherchant le criminel, Brenda tente d'éviter que le nom de Flynn soit sali par cette affaire...
