Samuel Barnett (*25. April 1980 in Whitby, North Yorkshire) ist ein englischer Schauspieler, der auf Bühne, Film, Fernsehen und Radio erfolgreich ist. Internationale Bekanntheit erlangte er durch seine Rolle als Posner in Alan Bennetts The History Boys, sowohl in der preisgekrönten Theaterproduktion als auch in der Verfilmung. Für diese Rolle wurde er für einen Tony Award nominiert. Im Fernsehen spielte Barnett u.a. in der BBC-Komödie Twenty Twelve, im Drama Penny Dreadful und übernahm die Hauptrolle des Dirk Gently in der BBC-America-Serie Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency (2016–2017). Weitere bekannte Auftritte hatte er in Produktionen wie Desperate Romantics und Bright Star. Auch auf der Theaterbühne feierte er große Erfolge, etwa im Londoner National Theatre, am Globe Theatre sowie am Broadway, wo er u.a. in Richard III und Twelfth Night auftrat. Barnett stammt aus einer Familie mit Quäker- und polnisch-jüdischen Wurzeln und absolvierte seine Schauspielausbildung an der London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).
