Léa Hélène Seydoux-Fornier de Clausonne (born July 1, 1985) is a French actor. She began her acting career in French cinema, appearing in films such as The Last Mistress (2007) and On War (2008). Seydoux first came to attention after she won the Trophée Chopard and received her first César Award nomination, for her performance in The Beautiful Person (2008). In the years that followed, Seydoux began appearing in minor roles in high-profile Hollywood films, including Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds (2009), Ridley Scott's Robin Hood (2010), Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris (2011) and the action film Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011). In French cinema during this period, she was nominated for the César Award for Most Promising Actress for a second time for her role in Belle Épine (2010) and was nominated for the César Award for Best Actress for her role as a lady-in-waiting to Marie Antoinette in the film Farewell, My Queen (2012). Seydoux came to widespread attention in 2013 when she was awarded the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival for her role as a lesbian art student in the critically acclaimed film Blue Is the Warmest Colour, along with its film director Abdellatif Kechiche and her co-star Adèle Exarchopoulos. That same year, she also received the Lumières Award for Best Actress for the film Grand Central and, in 2014, she was nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star Award and starred in the films Beauty and the Beast, Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel and Saint Laurent. She gained further international attention for her appearance as Bond girl Madeleine Swann in Spectre (2015), a role which she reprised in No Time to Die (2021). Since then, she has continued to appear in major English-speaking roles in The Lobster (2015), in Wes Anderson's The French Dispatch (2021), and in the Hideo Kojima video game Death Stranding (2019).

Für ihre Rolle in Christophe Honorés Spielfilm „Das schöne Mädchen“ war sie 2009 für einen César nominiert. Eine weitere César-Nominierung erhielt sie 2011 für die weibliche Hauptrolle in Rebecca Zlotowskis Drama „Belle Épine“. In Benoît Jacquots Historiendrama „Leb wohl, meine Königin!“, das 2012 den Wettbewerb der Berlinale eröffnete, spielte sie eine weitere Hauptrolle. Ab 2009 hatte sie auch Nebenrollen in internationalen Produktionen wie Quentin Tarantinos Kriegsdrama „Inglourious Basterds“, Ridley Scotts Neuverfilmung „Robin Hood“ und Woody Allens „Midnight in Paris“. 2013 wurde sie bei den Filmfestspielen in Cannes zusammen mit ihrer Filmpartnerin Adèle Exarchopoulos für ihre schauspielerische Leistung in Abdellatif Kechiches Drama „Blau ist eine warme Farbe“ mit einer Goldenen Palme ausgezeichnet. Issue d'une famille liée depuis longtemps au monde du cinéma -elle est la petite-fille de Jérôme Seydoux, patron de Pathé, et la petite nièce de Nicolas Seydoux, PDG de Gaumont-, Léa Seydoux, adolescente timide, prend des cours de théâtre après avoir passé son baccalauréat. Vue en 2005 dans le clip de Raphaël Ne partons pas fâchés (réalisé par Olivier Dahan), elle décroche l'un des rôles principaux de Mes copines (2006), comédie teenage sur quatre filles qui rêvent de remporter un concours de danse. Dirigée par des metteurs en scène aussi aguerris que Catherine Breillat (Une vieille maîtresse, 2007) ou Mocky, Léa Seydoux, de plus en sollicitée (Des poupées et des anges), tourne avec deux brillants représentants de la nouvelle génération du cinéma d'auteur, Bertrand Bonello (De la guerre) et surtout Christophe Honoré, qui choisit cette brune aux teint pâle pour incarner une Princesse de Clèves des temps modernes dans La Belle personne (2008). Cinéphile et curieuse, elle multiplie les expériences les plus variées : fille délurée en bikini dans Plein sud de Sébastien Lifshitz, elle campe une bénévole de l'Ordre de Malte dans Lourdes de l'Autrichienne Jessica Hausner, et après une apparition dans Inglourious Basterds de Tarantino, elle incarne Isabelle d'Angoulême dans le Robin Hood de Ridley Scott (2010). Désormais connue du grand public, elle prend alors le soin de ne pas aller là où on l'attend. Privilégiant fidèlement l'artistique au financier, elle se lance dans des projets qui lui tiennent à coeur, elle qui possède l'indéniable avantage de pouvoir se fondre à des budgets diamétralement opposés. On la retrouve ainsi aux côtés d'une autre future grande, Anaïs Demoustier pour Belle épine, accompagnant l'ambitieux projet historique de Raoul Ruiz et ses Mystères de Lisbonne ou encore prêtant son visage d'ange au premier moyen-métrage de Louis Garrel, Petit tailleur. Après un nouveau détour chez les Américains pour le tournage de Mission : Impossible - Protocole fantôme, la comédienne s'attarde un instant chez Benoît Jacquot et offre une prestation remarquée aux côtés de Diane Kruger dans Les Adieux à la Reine, ce qui lui vaut une nomination au César de la Meilleure actrice. La même année, elle a la chance de jouer sous la direction de Woody Allen dans la comédie Minuit à Paris. Très attachée au cinéma d'auteur (L'Enfant d'en haut), Léa Seydoux retrouve ensuite Rebecca Zlotowski, trois ans après Belle épine, pour son second film, Grand Central, drame amoureux sur fond de centrale nucléaire. Le métrage est sélectionné dans la catégorie Un Certain Regard lors du Festival de Cannes 2013. La jeune femme y présente donc deux films, puisqu'elle partage également l'affiche de La Vie d'Adèle avec Adèle Exarchopoulos. Réalisé par Abdellatif Kechiche, le film est en lice pour la Palme d'Or. Les deux actrices y livrent une performance inoubliable. Largement favori, La Vie d'Adèle est couronné de la Palme, exceptionnellement remise par le président Steven Spielberg à "Adèle, Léa et Abdellatif Kechiche".
